In recent years, the Alliance has used a Facebook photo ‘campaign’ during Domestic Violence Awareness Month as a way of engaging our community in talking about abuse. This year’s campaign featured images and words of the people who attended awareness events in Lincoln, Orono, Bangor, and Guilford. We saw participation from mothers and children, college students and grandmothers, men and women, roller-derby skaters and police officers.
Our community has come a long way if so many different people feel comfortable speaking out about abuse. We hope that their words and images will carry throughout the year and reach those who need support the most.
